Places You’ll Visit

Oslob Whale Shark Encounter – Tan-awan, a coastal barangay in the municipality of Oslob on the southern tip of Cebu Island, is world-famous for its whale shark encounters. It is the only place in the Philippines where visitors can swim with whale sharks almost every day of the year. Due to its popularity, you should expect some waiting time before boarding your boat, especially during peak hours. However, the opportunity to observe and swim alongside these gentle giants is an unforgettable experience well worth the wait.

Tumalog Falls – Located just a short drive from the whale shark watching site, Tumalog Falls is one of Cebu’s most beautiful natural attractions. The falls are renowned for their broad, curtain-like cascade that flows into a stunning milky-blue pool, creating a peaceful and almost magical setting. Surrounded by lush tropical forest, it is the perfect place to cool off and relax after your whale shark adventure.

Kawasan Falls is one of the most famous waterfalls in southern Cebu, located just a short distance from Moalboal. Surrounded by lush tropical forest, the falls are renowned for their natural beauty, turquoise-blue pools, and refreshing cascading waters.
Beyond its scenic charm, Kawasan Falls is also a popular destination for adventure seekers, offering thrilling activities such as canyoneering, where you can jump, swim, and trek through Cebu’s stunning river canyons, as well as ziplining for an exciting view of the surrounding landscape.

Tour Notes

Do I need to know how to swim?

For Kawasan Falls canyoneering, basic swimming ability and reasonable fitness are recommended, since the route involves swimming across pools, jumps, and scrambling over rocks — life vests are provided and required. For Oslob whale shark watching, you don't need to know how to swim — life vests are provided, and you can still experience the whale sharks by floating on the surface.

Waterfalls Cleanup Schedule

Both Kawasan Falls and Tumalog Falls undergo regular monthly cleaning and rehabilitation on the third Wednesday of each month. The site may be closed or have limited access on that day — worth checking before you plan a visit around that date.

How long is the whale shark swim?

Guests typically get about 30 minutes in the water with the whale sharks, guided by local boatmen.

Are there age or fitness restrictions for Kawasan Falls Activity?

-Minimum age is 12 years old.
-There are health limits given the physical demands of the route (jumping, swimming, scrambling)

Can I skip the cliff jumps if I don't want to jump?

Yes — the jumps are optional. Guides typically offer an alternate way past each jump point (a ladder, rope, or walk-around path) for anyone who'd rather not jump. The swimming, wading, and sliding sections of the route are generally required to keep the group moving through the canyon, but no one is forced to make a jump they're not comfortable with.

What happens if it rains or the river conditions are unsafe?

Tours can be suspended or rerouted after heavy rain, since the canyon can turn from clear to fast and murky quickly. If your guide calls off or shortens the tour, it's a safety call worth respecting rather than contesting.
