Nagtabon is one of the finest beaches in Palawan, but sometimes it has very strong rip currents, also known as riptides or undertow. The treacherous currents can quickly take you out of your comfort zone, from the shallows to deeper water

Do not go swimming in the sea, even if only a few meters from shore, when the tide is going out. A rip current won’t pull you under. It’ll pull you away from the shore, so you need to remove yourself from the current before you head toward land. Swim parallel to the coast to escape the current, then swim at an angle back to shore when you’re free from the pull of the undertow.
