When to go to Dumaran:
It is recommended to plan your visit to Dumaran during the dry season, which runs from November to early June. This period offers more favorable weather conditions for traveling and exploring the islands.
The road leading to Dumaran is quite rugged and mostly unpaved, making it challenging to traverse, especially during the wet season. In these months, the road can turn into impassable mud, making travel to Dumaran difficult or impossible. Thus, visiting Dumaran during the dry season ensures a smoother journey to and from the municipality.
Getting to Dumaran:
To reach Dumaran, there are different modes of transportation available from Puerto Princesa, including public buses or shuttle vans. However, we highly recommend using a private vehicle, preferably a jeep 4WD, for a more comfortable and convenient journey.
The travel time from Puerto Princesa to Sta. Teresita port can take anywhere from 4 to 8 hours, depending on the type of vehicle and weather conditions. While the Puerto Princesa North Provincial Road is well-maintained, the road leading to the junction towards Sta. Teresita is narrow, rugged, and mostly unpaved.
Once you reach Sta. Teresita port, you can travel to Dumaran town via boat, which takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes. Overall, taking a private vehicle is the best option to ensure a smooth and hassle-free journey to Dumaran.
